cubitt street office
2020-2024
Created by Pace Development Group in collaboration with award-winning studios Jackson Clements Burrows (JCB) and Splinter Society, this architecturally distinct project exudes creativity and character within Melbourne’s most sought-after commerce precinct.
Jackson Clements Burrows
The esteemed Melbourne-based studio is committed to the exploration of innovative, socially and environmentally sustainable design. In Six Cubitt, the firm merges industrial forms with more organic elements, and comfort on par with performance; a reflection of Cremorne’s industrious and innovative character.
“We like to explore the narrative of the surrounding neighbourhood – trying to find that little bit of joy in the architecture, whether that comes from a place, the site or locality…[Six Cubitt is] located in a concrete, hard-edged, gritty environment…We’ve transformed this context, playfully pixelating or cubing the form with cantilevered boxes.”
- Chris Manderson, Associate Director, JCB.
Splinter Society
Based in Melbourne, the award-winning architecture and interior design studio is committed to crafting custom, human environments distinguished by diverse experiences. At Six Cubitt, this comes to life in the lobby – featuring a metallic ceiling installing melding durable materials with fluid forms – all the way up to the rooftop restaurant where thoughtful landscaping meets panoramic views.
“With everyone having experienced the pleasure and pain of working from home, there’s a real desire for social interaction and communal spaces… we’ve thought broadly about how people might like to use the spaces and how we can accommodate various uses for them.”
- Chris Stanley, Co-Founder, Splinter Society.

My focus for this project was to document the interior of the Pace office on levels 1 and 2, as well as the end-of-trip facilities. For this documentation, I had to reference Australian standards and DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) standards to ensure compliance. Additionally, I worked on the Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment schedule, which involved consolidating information, finding economic alternatives, and liaising with suppliers to gather the necessary details. I also attended multiple site visits to monitor progress and ensure the design was being implemented correctly, providing on-site solutions as needed.
